19 BANDS TO PLAY AT THE 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF CLASSIC GAME FEST

The largest video game music lineup in Classic Game Fest history.

AUSTIN, TEXAS (February 10, 2017) — Classic Game Fest (CGF) returns to the Palmer Event Center in Austin, Texas on July 29-30, 2017, and it will feature its largest musical lineup yet. Twenty video game themed bands and musicians are scheduled to play over the weekend. Music has been a part of the convention since its inception 10 years ago. Returning acts like Mega Ran, Bitforce and The Descendants of Erdrick will join newcomers like Kirby’s Epic Dream Band, Eye Q and Sammus this year. The full music schedule and lineup will be revealed soon at www.classicgamefest.com.

Concerns over sound affecting the vendor hall, panel discussions and other aspects of CGF has been addressed. CGF will expand to 70,000 square feet this year  All musical acts will perform in the adjacent hall and not directly in the vendor hall.

Event founder, David Kaelin, said, “We love the live video game music, and our lineup this year is one of the biggest musical lineups for any video game event in the country. At the same time, we also love and appreciate our vendors, fans and attendees – especially those with smaller children – who sometimes felt in the past that CGF was, at times, just too darn loud. The bands will play in the adjacent hall and not in the vendor room. There will be only a small opening/passageway between them so noise issues should be minimal. This way, the music will still rock all weekend long, but the vendors and attendees can avoid the distractions and noise if they choose by staying in the vendor room.”

Classic Game Fest began in 2007 as a video game tournament and party and quickly grew into the largest retro video games convention in Texas. CGF celebrates classic and retro video games with tournaments, vendors selling games and consoles, a video games museum, musical acts, costume contests and more.  CGF has previously featured acclaimed author Ernest Cline, game developer Warren Spector and video game icon Richard “Lord British” Garriot, as special guests.  The tenth anniversary of CGF occurs on July 29-30, 2017 at the Palmer Event Center in Austin, TX.
