Classic Game Fest is delighted to announce game developer and visual effects master Steve Wright as a special guest!

It’s hard to pin down Mr. Wright’s best accomplishment while he worked for Atari from 1978 to 1983.  He introduced storytelling into game manuals!  That’s pretty awesome despite game manuals becoming a thing of the past in current times.  Steve is also credited for creating the first scrolling playfield in Pele’s Soccer, he also pioneered adding sound and graphic designers to game development teams, the guy even created a rapid-prototyping game development system, and video games still didn’t seem to be his true calling!  Hollywood soon came knocking.

No, he hasn’t starred in any movies, but his IMDB page highlights several mouse scrolls worth of film and TV credits.  Steve moved from Atari to Paramount where he worked for the partnership between Sega and Paramount Studios to adapt movies to arcade games.  Soon after, he entered the world of visual effects and started his own studio in 1987 which produced effects for over 70 TV commercials and 20 films.  Steve joined Cinesite in 1997 and became 2D technical director where his work can be seen in over 70 films like S.W.A.T., Seabuscuit, Blade: Trinity and many more.  Steve switched things up in 2005 and began teaching his wealth of VFX knowledge.  He’s taught over 1,000 students and has created extensive tutorials on the world’s largest online training company, Lynda.com.

Steve Wright will have a meet and greet, Q&A session, and a panel titled, “Game, Movies, and Atari” on Saturday, July 30th from 5 – 6:30pm

See Steve Wright and more at Classic Game Fest 2016!  The BIGGEST retro gaming event in Texas takes place on July 30-31, 2016 at the Palmer Event Center in Austin, TX.
