Every summer for the past 8 years, the retro gamers of Austin, TX have joined together to celebrate all things related to classic video games at CLASSIC GAME FEST. What began as a small retro game tournament and party at Game Over Videogames, CGF is now a full-size convention that stands tall all on its own. For CGF2015, this event will once again be held at the Palmer Events Center which includes over 25,000sf of classic video game fun for the whole family with an estimated attendance of over 6000+ gamers of all ages. As in years past, this year’s event includes a huge mix of video game bands, special industry guest speakers, costume contests, retro game tournaments, classic arcades set on free play, and of course, TONS of retro video games, systems, accessories, and related artwork for sale!

Today it was announced that ERNEST CLINE — the best-selling author of the nerd-tastic novel that is already a retro gamer classic Ready Player One and the soon-to-be-released Armada — will be on hand Sunday, July 26th from 12-3pm at Classic Game Fest. He will take part in the Q&A on the main stage with Howard Scott Warshaw (the creator of the infamous E.T. game for Atari 2600) discussing the legendary dig for lost Atari games last year in New Mexico. Ernie and Howard were both there at the dig site and contributed to the documentary Game Over about proving the myth of the lost Atari games. After the Q&A, Ernie will be on hand in his booth to sign autographs (bring your books!) and meet and greet fans. He’s always great about taking pictures too, and he may even bring his DeLorean… An all-around great guy, if you missed out on meeting him last year, don’t miss this chance!!
