Over the past 5 years, in addition to their regular monthly tournaments and events, Game Over Videogames has staged the largest classic video game party in central Texas for video game fans of all ages known as Classic Game Fest, or simply CGF. These events typically have included huge retro game tournaments, costume contests, movies, live video game music bands, and much more fun for the whole family.
Over the years, CGF has grown and expanded so much that it can no longer be confined to being simply a big store event. Our plans are to “level up” CGF and make this a huge convention style event for all of central Texas retro gamers and game fans to come and enjoy. We are very excited and proud to officially announce that starting this year, CGF will become an annual retro video game convention held each summer in Austin, TX.
To celebrate this growth and excitement and demonstrate our commitment to running the best possible retro gaming convention, we have taken over the entire 2nd floor of the Palmer Events Center â including all 5 meeting rooms, the grand hallway, and the amazing upstairs deck overlooking beautiful downtown Austin as our venue for this year’s events.
Classic Game Fest 2013 will take place on July 13â14 at the Palmer Events Center near downtown Austin. Wristbands good for admission the entire weekend including all events, tournaments, concerts, etc. will be sold for only $10 each and all children under 12 get in free all weekend (when accompanied by an adult). Plus, a portion of every wristband sold will benefit a local charitable organization.
A complete listing of all events and times for CGF2013 including specific retro game tournaments, movies, live bands, costume contests, artist/vendor booths, etc. will be announced over the next several months online on Facebook, Twitter, and this website.
