Over the past 6 years, in addition to their regular monthly tournaments and events, Game Over Videogames has staged the largest classic video game party in central Texas for video game fans of all ages known as Classic Game Fest, or simply CGF. These events include huge retro game tournaments, costume contests, movies, live video game music bands, classic video games/systems/accessories for sale, a free arcade, and much more gaming fun for the whole family.

Last year, the event was moved and expanded from being strictly a Game Over Videogames company event into a full-sized retro gaming convention to serve the entire state of Texas and beyond. CGF2013 far exceeded our expectations and was absolutely packed with over 2,000 enthusiastic attendees from all over Texas and around the country.

To celebrate this growth and excitement and demonstrate our commitment to running the best possible retro gaming convention, we have once again raised the bar, and we are pleased to officially announce a major expansion coming in 2014. For CGF2014, we have booked the entire “Hall 2” space on the main floor of the Palmer Events Center for this event. That will take us from 5,000 square feet in 2013 to an enormous 25,000 square feet for CGF2014! This will allow us to greatly expand the number of vendors, artists, events, and attendees. This will also push the 7th annual Classic Game Fest into being one of the top 10 retro game conventions in the US with a total estimated attendance over 4,000 people. Plus, we’ll all have quite a bit more breathing room too!

Classic Game Fest 2014 will take place on August 16–17, 2014 at the Palmer Events Center near downtown Austin. Advance purchase wristbands good for admission the entire weekend including all events, tournaments, concerts, etc. will be sold starting later this year for only $10 each and all children under 12 get in free all weekend (when accompanied by an adult). Plus, a portion of every wristband sold will benefit a local charitable organization — the Dell Children’s Medical Center Foundation.

A complete listing of all events and times for CGF2014 including specific retro game tournaments, movies, live bands, costume contests, artist/vendor booths, etc. will be announced over the next several months online on Facebook, Twitter, and on this website.
